Hey. So a couple of points I want to make that really outline how crazy/hypocritical this tik tok ban is. First, what happened to the free market? I thought that the free market was important to both Democrats and Republicans. This banning of Tik Tok is the government directly interfering with and manipulating the market, and it is sick. Also, just think about what the United States government is saying by banning Tik Tok. They are basically saying "any social media platform that we allow our citizens to access has to be owned and run by an American company." That is some Orwellian behavior approaching the levels seen in 1984/Fahrenheit 451. THe government wants to make sure that all forms of media are subject to state control, and we should fight against this with everything we have.

As a computer consultant including security, this is DANGEROUS. I've already had some of my clients servers attacked by malware which encrypted all their data and popped up messages telling them to pay a ransom with bitcoin. It's just a matter of time before the PRC uses the data they've collected, assuming they haven't done it already. I fully support a ban on any Internet service that collects private data without consent or knowledge of the user. If you oppose this then you're basically accepting the PRC's methods to obtain the personal data, passwords, bank account access and more from millions of security ignorant Americans. Tiktok isn't the only social media platform available so I don't accept the argument made by its users that their businesses depend on Tiktok. B.S.
