WHERE ARE OUR LAWMAKERS???? There is exactly 1 law pertaining to AI in California?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
@brotcon Says:
Yeah no Company is entitled anything to you. It’s called a private company for a reason. When a Public company follows procedure a Private company will wipe it not following procedure. Yeah they won’t get fired from their job but it’s not like management will make another separate company to do the same exact thing.
@karlad4082 Says:
AI isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed anyway, so I’m hoping these executives realize that it would be a big mistake to use AI.

I agree with John

I plan on using AI to compose my marriage vows. What say you?
@zoeherriot Says:
The problem is not everyone has good ideas. What happens is you end up with a race to the bottom and there will be SOME people who make nicer stuff. A lot of people will make the bare minimum.

It's not AI ... It's automated plagiarism

You can say that all you want.But there are no mandates or regulations on this.

But John is really into all things AI/ futuristic. Yikes.

I was such a fool to think I was "in love" with that guy. Lessons learned.

Maybe they should just learn to code.....
@HMan2828 Says:
These executives are daydreaming. You cannot copyright anything authored by any AI (by law!). And since AIs only regurgitate information they are trained on, you would also open yourself up to massive copyright lawsuits if you were to use AI to write a script for example. The actual original author of the data used to train the AI would have a real copyright case...
@LostAndHangry Says:
The writers want the studios to promise not to replace them with A.I. writers, but can the writers promise the studios that they will not use A.I. to help them with their writing? If I had a million dollars to blow on a pet A.I. movie project that's going to fail, am I taking away jobs from human? Jobs that were never going to humans to begin with? If it was well received and made a billion dollars, do I owe human beings anything all of a sudden? Do I have to now hire human beings for my next movie? If writers/actors/creatives want more money because the studio made more money, will they allow for a pay cut and share the risk with the studios if the projects fail? A lot of writers and actors negotiate less money for points and more backend. Would they be interested in those kinds of deals like Stallone's deal on Rocky? Or Cemeron's deal Terminator and Titanic?

Movies are an colleborative art form like much like Architecture. With the writers being the architects and all the people around them the builders that bring the architects vision to life. And of course they should be honored because without them we wouldn't have cathedrals or movies/tv shows.
@chriss-nf1bd Says:
A am amazed that writers who wrote stories for years about AI that that time is here... A couple decades ago there was a show called Caprica. All this data was put into a machine to recreate a lost daughter...
@adamk5937 Says:
Has doubling down on being human ever happened before? Unfortunately, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, and that's the basis of humanity now and in our history. People need to come together as political forces and form labor and political unions, which in the past century gave us the American Middle Class. If the writers, directors, actors, techs, and smaller production companies came together, which looks like it's happening right now, they could save the creative art of film making. Do we really need another Disney princess made up of millions of parts of the previous Disney princesses?
@DREDAY0927 Says:
Thus us Sad because here We Are 3 Months Later and Writers and Actors Losted They Jobs on Strike..I've Heard some Already Selling They House and Cars Just To Stay A Float..Now AI Is Taking Uber Eats and Driver Jobs With Robots that Can Deliver Food and Uber People Anywhere

Ai just lost to human in one of the oldest game boards in the world "Go". World champ left the scene in 2006, because AI won against him..Newbie won against AI...Ai got problems, because it is not actual AI watch?v=l7tWoPk25yU&t=639s
@HMan2828 Says:
Executives are going to be disappointed when they realize that by using AI they cannot copyright ANYTHING the AI generates, and that they open themselves up to lawsuits by anyone whose original work was trained by the AI... Typical case of boomer vs technology.

10:20 The only award I ever care about from the Oscars is Best Screenplay. Every single winner is always an absolutely amazing film. I'm biased, though, because I'm a screen writing nerd. I watch film like people read books... because I analyze the writing of it. So, I'm your huckleberry, I suppose lol
@noswayjose Says:
Learn to code, losers!!
@EverywhereNYC Says:
Nope... EXECUTIVES are the jobs ultimately replaced by AI.. those are the jobs with the least human creativity. The shareholders who realize this the fastest will be the richest. No more big salaries and bonuses when AI can do it for FREE with zero loss to creativity
@MisterTechnologic Says:
The problem is that if AI stays like he describes it, without creativity, then no one would want it writing scripts. It BECOMES dangerous once it gets good and creative. We’re machines just like computers, and sometime SOON, AI will be an extremely competitive writer. If he didn’t believe that, he wouldn’t be so worried, and we should be. Because it will become a problem. But it’s not gonna go away. Instead of a team of writers, it’ll soon be two writers and an AI. I’m a scientist, and I use AI all the time to assist my experiments. Soon, it’ll be harder for me to get a job too because less people will be able to do more with less.
@user-lc4xh7ts7h Says:
The captains of industry never think for once that AI will come for their jobs, because they think they are too important. Until the AI sees those people are wasting money and decides a machine can do a better job than a CEO, a Producer, and a Hedge Fund Manager.
@PatThePerson Says:
One thing I hate is voice systems that go “talk to me as you would a human” Me: No sweetie if I did that you would instantly get confused, you still need keywords like a machine. AI: I didn’t get that, just tell me what you need Me: told you so Most phone prompts just try to filter out people trying to do things they can do with an app or webpage. I’m one of those who know when I need a human on their side to do something for me.
@wetfishbits Says:
AI should replace the execs
@Kim-by5uy Says:
The executives should be replaced with AI
@winklethrall2636 Says:
This AI stuff reminds me of an old (1950s) sci-fi story The Darfsteller where a human attempts to replace a robot actor.
@Mr.Kittles Says:
Why pay a human when you can not pay a robot? Ai will free these writers from their menial jobs so that they can find employment in more meaningful jobs like construction. This is the argument in favour of replacing workers with Ai.
@ussfury13 Says:
Technically Execs and AI act the same so why shouldn't companies be replacing the executives with AI it would be better for the bottom line for the share holders cause they wouldn't have those huge salaries to pay anymore. So they would have a fiduciary responsibility to replace the execs with the AI by law.
@ZerqTM Says:
executives would be easier to automate :p and they cost way more
@number1sun Says:
We need to develop a CEO AI and charge companies 1 million per year to use it. Erasing a $2-200 million salary would be a great cost cutting measure for companies looking to squeeze more profits out! Also once the people at the top are threatened with being replaced by technology I think the cultural tide might turn just a bit :P
@DavidIFernandezMunoz Says:
No problem. AI will write the script, AI will watch the movie, AI will write the criticisms and AI editors will publish them. Meanwhile, the people will continue to watch tiktoks of people doing make up, invading houses or pranking minorities. It's not like we read anyway.
@darex0827 Says:
Hard to care for anyone in the industry as I dont watch TV and movies anymore. YouTube has much better content.
@ConsciencepartyUSA Says:
Kind of makes me think of when I play my celebrity name just to help make a boring day go by. Sandra bullock, bett milder, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, spike lee, Lawrence Fishbourne, Frankie munis, Melissa Joan Hart, Hilary, Duff etc if u the game. And the sad thing is some of my coworkers don’t even know some of these names bc they only know the character’s names not the ppl that actually play/direct/actually created them. It’s just really sad.

@crystalharvey8798 Says:
I think it's we found during the pandemic that people were having trouble with isolation in the lack of community and also being isolated from one another caused a mental breakdown of society. I think the more that we lean towards AI for certain needs will be make us more isolated just as the development of the smartphone has also made people isolated
@alandoren4953 Says:
And this would be if the people that will be "making" movies in the future, the techs, programmers and so on, will be willing to play game. But at the end they are labor and will want to be paid handsomely too. It is not possible to work around workers.
@403gtfo Says:
The free market is not a solution for this. When your only choice becomes AI generated stuff then you dont have a choice. And lets be honest... the already rich are going to disproportionately have access to the new tech. This is only the opening volley of the class divide... and the war is already nearly lost.
@brianbassett4379 Says:
Writers want an AI block to save their jobs? Should we also block autonomous trucks and vehicles to save drivers' jobs? Should we still be riding in human-operated elevators? Society should forego automation in factories and warehouse storage/shipping too? If writers would have been writing anything worthwhile over the last decade they would have been earning an actual living. Perhaps people are tired of remake after remake and cheesy alternate-universe plotlines. Relying on AI to write scripts and plots may just give movie and television viewers some new and _interesting_ to watch... for a change. Technology marches on and it will continue to march over the top of the most easily replaced human activities regardless of how much they whine while it happens.

Similar to how the FDA is supposed to assess harmfulness of foods or drugs, there needs to be some kind of “Emerging Technologies Administration” that assesses whether new technology can be harmful.
@MISTAJZA Says:
Ironic that Hollywood created the Terminator franchise, which is about a rogue AI taking over everything, and now we are on the precipice of AI taking over Hollywood.
@gabrieladkinsGS Says:
Where does creativity come from? It comes from God and our traditions. Mankind has been running away from God and traditions at a million miles an hour for decades (and I would argue centuries) and the result has been hilarious...

It sounds like the same argument that the milk men had when they started selling milk at stores
