There obviously were not "peaceful" protests. Peaceful is when all parties are peaceful. When one side harasses students based on their ethnicity, and another side doesn't respond, that's not peaceful.
Bottom line is, you are not complaining about a violent crackdown. You are complaining that the crackdown was against YOUR side. That your side faced consequences
