"In what the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Monday called a "historic victory," 84 drivers and dispatchers in Palmdale, California have joined the union and reached a tentative deal with an Amazon "delivery service partner" that may be losing its contract with the online retail giant.
The contractor, Battle-Tested Strategies (BTS), voluntarily recognized the union, meaning workers can skip an election. However, the employees still need to vote on the agreement negotiated by Teamsters Local 396 and Joint Council 42, which includes pay increases, health and safety provisions, and a grievance procedure.

How can I join? I’m a driver at DOK3, all of the DSP’s here still make us pee in bottles and no breaks allowed without them taking you off the schedule for your next shift. My manager pulled out his penis and pee’d in the back of the van during my day 1 ride-along training.

Fair Pay?! I believe that BS Night shift full works $19 per hours plus $1.30 shift differential. The Reduced time shifts Makes the same but $2.30 shift differential and not showing up for work?! Night shift full time deserves $2.30 shift differential not $1.30 if full timer been serving Amazon for a long time. 😡😡😡

Amazon is Still doing it in Oklahoma City for sure! $18.50 is the pay and it’s barely enough for the cheapest, roach infested, 1 bedroom apartment. Not enough at all for food and I don’t even have any kids or anything. Have to run non-stop day in and day out from door to door. Soon as you sprain your ankle, or trip over a sidewalk 1 time.. they will make you the extra and send you home.

The solution would be, Amazon absorbs the contracted companies and hires the drivers on directly, raise the pay, go on a mass hiring spree to hire more drivers. Put a CAP on delivery loads at 100 stops max. That would create an amazing work environment where each driver would be able to focus more on each delivery, not feel like they're being rushed to sprint to a finish, not have to pee in fuckin bottles, etc.....and the customers would be happier because you wouldn't have frustrated drivers throwing packages because they got stuck with over 300+ packages over 200 stops, over half of which are for 3rd floor apartments.....instead you'd have a happier employee as your delivery driver making absolutely sure each delivery is handled with care, kindness and respect. You'd have more time to pay attention to, and follow through with, some of the more bullshit customer notes that tell you to do odd/time consuming things. Amazon standards for each driver as of right now are ridiculous.

As a current employee of Amazon and a former Delivery Driver, Amazon can improve on lots of things.
You claim to not believe the Amazon spoke person, but do you believe the DSP owner who claims he can only pay his DA's $19 whens he's making anywhere from 300k-1m a year?
I worked in Dallas delivering for 3 of the hottest months of the year. If you don't take care of yourself(staying hydrated and eating healthy) the job will kick you in the butt no doubt. Not saying there aren't some valid complaints. But a lot of the issues are self inflicted with drivers. If you can't physically handle the job, it's probably not for you.

My brother owns like 20 Fedex trucks basically the same scenario, , they had a Conference in Vegas by a guy who owns like 200 trucks and routes and he tried to start a union and Fedex said they will terminate his contract. You are making comments and clearly don't know how it works.

No only is it 10 hours, Amazon has a "ENGINE OFF" policy so a.c. is ineffective (if you have a.c.). You can lose your job for non compliance of "Eng. Off" policy to prevent pkgs from being stolen, but don't worry, it's totally cool to pee in a bottle or cup. So,, "deliver packages at any cost" to health or sanitation.

Amazon has a few programs for which they employ independent contractors to do their deliveries. For example, here in Cleveland, there are five total Amazon factories, including one same-day delivery location and there are actual Amazon drivers Amazon DSP, which is what you’re referring to in this article and then you have Amazon Flex drivers all are paid absolute trash. It’s literally the exact same situation that is occurring with Uber and DoorDash.

The only issue with Amazon is greed. They want more profits but reducing labor cost and forgetting that we are humans not robots even a robot needs a battery/ electrical source to operate and when it's overworked/ overload it's breaks or malfunction. I didn’t accept the manager position, they have every day groups people starting and don’t finish a day. They try hire 18-25 that will work in that condition and $15 is a lot if they live with their parents. This is going be sad to say and it’s been said before, working there is closer to working as slave, I seen many people fall out from heat, wear diaper so they make time, it’s horrible and everyone knows this by time and just talk, a guy got killed Amazon didn’t have family a dime, went court he had six lawyers and they said guy didn’t use safety equipment and precautions and win.
