TikTok is a poison for the mind. People just don't realize how valuable the ability to focus, truly is. Degrading the focus of kids is offering us a horrible future. Sometimes we shouldn't get what we want. Especially as kids.
We need to reconnect with the elements of humanity that drive us forward, not prey on the ones that make us vulnerable.

I was born in 1985, and had played a few computer games on a 386 with 3.1, but only started being online in the late 90's with WebTV. I was raised in poverty mostly, so didn't really get to be online as much until 2007, and then more addicted via smartphone nonsense after my ex-wife abandoned me in 2015. -_-

Don't blame the technology, this is just manipulation on one side and lack of intelligence/common sense on the other side. It has always been present in the "offline" world too, the internet just scales it up a lot, the only real defense is educating people. Like any medium, internet can be used for good or bad, and the good still far outweighs the bad.

It sounds like your problem with social media is the anonymity aspect of it which is a similar point that Jordan Peterson made on Joe Rogan's podcast that I agree with. In Texas they also have a law of agreed mutual combat where fights between men are permitted as long as they are agreed upon by both parties and kept fair and clean. Im hesitant on a Tiktok ban because when the Jan 6th protest happened IG, FB, Amazon, the app stores, all of them censored Trump and the conservative movement. Tiktok was the only place where updates and reports telling the other side of the story could be found although they are far from being a Gab or Rumble. I dont entirely blame the internet. Poor morality, paginst beliefs, the rise of apostacy, an obsession with profane lyrics and gore in movies, and a general lack of empathy and cultural unity are the root causes of societies collapse. Those problems only spill over onto Tiktok and other apps.

My life has improved having access to informative and practical information on the net. As a result I've been able to effect repairs around the home, car etc. Also some medical info has been extremely useful. I got jobs in other countries using the net. I kept in touch instantaneously with friends family on the net. I don't use Twitter, Facebook etc. I'm 73 years old. If you don't eat the poison it won't affect you.

I have never used TikTok I am trying to cut down on social media altogether as well think it's pretty toxic and not good for a person's well being.Remember when the internet first began it was an exciting novelty but yes I think the pre internet world was in many ways much nicer and more socialable like back then we actually had to speak face to face with other human beings and have proper relationships with people. I remember when it was wierd to sit inside on a summer day playing video games. I remember I was playing my snes in the 90's and my friends came over to see if I wanted to come outside and play I said nah I'm playing harvest moon. They pulled the cable out the back of my snes and ran off laughing. I followed them and we went rode our bikes around for hours like we allways did. Now days everyone is inside on devices.
