You first have to be a respectful person then choose a respectful man who believes in Jesus. Not a dogma man who contorts bible versus to justify his bad behavior. 3rd take your time, wait a few months before sex, if he gets abnoxiously pressing for it, leave him. Because first six months he is on his best behavior. Then wait at least ayear to 2 years before marriage. If after 2 years your not married, he will never marry you, so leave.

I agree it's ok to follow a strong man but once you realize he has mental illness it's time for you to lead. I allowed my husband to lead for many years. Now I realize he's mentally ill and is not the person I should follow. I need to follow my gut and God which I am now doing. This man has broken my heart and crushed my dreams of our future together. I realize he's not the person I should follow. God, my intuition, my family's love is what I should follow. You need to find the right man who follows God in his life. I did not find that man. After 20 yrs of marriage I realized he's toxic and not the right person for me. I still love him but can no longer have him in my life. I need God and my family who truly want the best for me. I'm so heart broken that I've spent years with the wrong man but believe God has a lesson for me in all my heart break. That's the only thing that keeps me going.
