I disagree with the judgement. It's baby powder. People have been using talc since before this company existed. There should not have been any monetary award. What should have happened is experts should have gone to the FDA. If it was not clear cut then the FDA should have made companies put a warning label on it.

I don't understand the validity of the talc powder/cancer correlation for the windfall settlement of an 80yo woman who claimed her ovarian cancer was caused by nothing but baby powder use - at the exclusion of using all other feminine products, all other soaps, bathing environments, water pollutants, exposures during her lifetime. How do the courts not see that J&J baby powder (which was in use since 1920s and yet) did not level a sweeping number of ovarian cancers throughout generations of users should have been proof enough that ovarian cancer isn't caused by talc powder. This was just another attack on iconinc american businesses/industries being systematically dismantled by foreign govts paying courts to rule so as to weaken our economic power as a nation and destroy capitalism.

This is an insane abuse of our legal system. We need a new Federal grand jury and a new Supreme Court and US Marshals that can investigate and prosecute interstate & global fraud. There should be one trial with an 11-person jury that settles the question of cancer being linked to the product. When that is settled, then the suits can be filed. BAR lawyers are doing this to extract the maximum $ amount in legal fees. I would also like new limits on the power of corporations to own assets outside the State in which they were incorporated. In other words, break up these global corporations.

First you talk about how J&J did this "Texas" legal maneuver and then declared bankruptcy to shield itself from the liability of these lawsuits. Then you talk about how J&J has agreed to this huge settlement. But you never said why the "Texas" split-off-company thing (apparently) didn't work...?
