The video used misleading editing, out of context. I watched the whole video, starting a couple of minutes before the edited clip. It is clear that President Trump is talking about the problem of saltwater intrusion into the electromagnetic catapult system onboard the USS Gerald R. Ford. The EMALS is an Electro Magnetic Aircraft Launch System. It uses a synchronous linear stator operating at 1,520 volts between phases. It incorporates hall effect sensors and power SCRs to switch 149 pairs of stator segments over a distance of about 100 meters. It draws 6,400 amperes at full load. "Electromagnets" at high voltage and high current must have very well sealed connections, or they may fail when soaked in saltwater. That's what he was saying.
