Mapping was something detailed we Swiss saw introduced in my early childhood, when Orell Füssli would become the country’s surveyor and map printer of choice (and Currency printer for many governments)… ask me anything about CH. and let me help you with the pronunciation of words… (fluent in seven languages/dialects and native of Ascona on Lago Maggiore, now in Palm Springs.

If you think Switzerland is cool, you should nerd out about the High Country of the Andes (the Altiplano), the Valle de Mexico, the Vale of Kashmir, etc. All very vibrant cultures that developed in the safety of intermontane valleys.
