Republicans Block Free Feminine Hygiene Products In Schools Because Periods are "Woke"

????

Idaho Republicans have blocked free tampons in schools because providing feminine hygiene products are too "woke." John Iadarola, Cenk Uygur, and Emma Vigeland discuss on The Young Turks. The one-page House Bill 313, introduced on March 13, would have required that public and public charter schools provide students with free tampons, sanitary napkins and other menstrual products. Dissenting Republicans decried the bill as 'woke' and overly generous. 'This bill is a very liberal policy, and it's really turning Idaho into a bigger nanny state than ever,' said state Rep. Heather Scott, according to The Daily Beast. 'It's embarrassing not only because of the topic but because of the actual policy itself. So you don't have to be a woman to understand the absurdity of this policy. And you don't have to feel that you're insensitive to not address this.' *** The largest online progressive news show in the world. Hosted by Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian. LIVE weekdays 6-8 pm ET. Free access to girls for a natural feminine function should be free... But little boys don't get their period. Periods aren't woke. Boys with periods are woke. Wanting to have tampons in boys bathrooms is woke. If they weren't trying to convince ALL the kids to get sx changes, little boys wouldn't need tampons ever. So again, girls and women are left in the dust because of Woke Idiology. Kids don't need sx changes, so boy's don't need Tampons. Free Tampons in GIRLS bathrooms is necessary.
@IndustrialSoundFreak Says:
They want poor girls to not go to school. They don’t want educated women. That’s the real agenda of the sick right wing. They want American to be like Honduras for women and girls.
@Cuddly-Cactus Says:
And I wish that when I was in school, there were tampons and pads as readily available as toilet paper was! Because even though my family didn't struggle financially, I would unexpectedly get my period while in the middle of class, because is very common to be irregular when you first start having your menstrual cycle, and even when I got older attending high school I would think that I'd have a few tampons or pads in my bag, and then get into the bathroom only realize I was totally out. (Trust me it is no fun to be siting there in the stall furiously digging through every nook and cranny of your backpack or purse desperately trying to not make so much noise, and then quietly having a panic attack.) Plus it was mortifying to have to raise my hand in class, and sit there waiting (and bleeding) to be called on by the teacher, and then when finally called on, to ask if I could go to the nurse's office, and then be asked why? What was the problem? I would just mutter something about having a stomach ache and feeling like I was going to throw up if I sat there any longer. (And then prayed that I hadn't bled through my clothing, as I ran out of the classroom). And when I got to the nurse's office, I'd have to whisper to her that I needed a sanitary product ASAP, and she actually told the other students in there to leave the room for a few minutes, then she proceeded to go into a drawer and hand me one of the largest pads I'd ever seen in my life. (And it didn't even in a wrapper! It only had the little bit of that wax paper like strip that covers the sticky part on the underside.) So I asked her if she had anything smaller, and I was told nope, sorry take it or leave it. So to have both tampons and pads readily available inside the bathrooms and locker rooms would be something that I would want for every single girl attending school in this country.
@Cuddly-Cactus Says:
Yes! "They love punishing women for being women." Very true Emma!
@Cuddly-Cactus Says:
So there's a reason why toilet paper is provided for free in every single public school, because men and boys use it. If both men and women had a menstrual cycle, then I would be money (that I don't even have) that sanitary products would be provided in little boxes right next to the 🧻 in every bathroom!

Republican politicians must think that period products come out of thin air. Jesus is giving these republican politicians a platform to pass rules and laws and they are failing him and us.
@kevtaylor7296 Says:
Soooooo now access to tampons for teenage girls is woke? Oh Jesus help us lord.....
@Madarax1337 Says:
The south should have been made into a US territory, rather than being added back into the union

HEY! I got an idea! Remember when that woman runner started free bleeding? She didn't want to stop the race to put in a tampon? It kind of caught on a trend with some women. If I was in school, I would start/join a free bleeding movement and let them clean it up. It would cause such an uproar they probably would put tampons and pads in! 💃💃💃
@MrAdryan1603 Says:
THIS IS BEYOND INSANE. WHEN IS THIS CRAZINESS GOING TO END?!!!

@zephyer-gp1ju Says:
Why are Republicans so afraid of vaginas?
@TinnyDee Says:
Women have been figuring out how to take care of their periods since the beginning of existence. I'm really tired of this culture that wants to be helpless and a victim. Not to be gross but if my period sneaks up on me in a public space, I'd pad my panties with toilet paper to get me thru. I don't want our schools to be hostile, I want our kids to be critical thinkers. I want them to be self reliant.

STUPID STUPID STUPID R party just as dumb as lizard t rump moron
@richardcorona3564 Says:
they HATE WOMEN, even when they are young.
@pickyourswitchoriginal Says:
I guess just bleed all over the chairs and let the school clean it up.
@Jumping-cholla Says:
This proves Republicans actually don’t give a shit about kids and aren’t actually “prolife.” This bill helps living, breathing kids and they yell “nay” like???
@EponineReads Says:
I’m late to comment on this but I’m gonna anyway. They provide free use to toilets and urinals. Doesn’t that ruin his argument?
@markwoods4439 Says:
Could some tell me what woke is an who came up with it?!!
@momof1576 Says:
If those men got periods this wouldn’t be a question. I honestly think they want poor women to leave school so they can keep them in their place
@CocoKmimi Says:
Bro .. he is 70
@patrickfair9107 Says:
That's right because in a republican Utopia women don't have periods because they're constantly pregnant.
@afterlifewelcomesyoutofore2992 Says:
Those who make them will donate them to the schools. I have been at a church that on a regular basics gets a 40 foot trailer of Feminine Hygiene products free. It goes into the church food bank. They could always do "A gofundme". Exccess your 2rd.
@daarianaharis Says:
it's also not just about being able to afford it. A large percentage of women - especially very young women - have irregular periods. I can't tell you how many times I was surprised by a period that came on before it was time. And me being a teenager, I didn't always have any pads with me.
@crouchingsmartass Says:
Tampons are for "many times" female sex organs? I'm gonna go ahead and say always. They are always for female sex organs. There is no reason to use a tampon if you aren't a female unless perhaps you have a bullet hole. Which I will readily admit is a possibility in schools these days.
@tommiegreen Says:
I have no idea what this article is supposed to make me feel. Who’s side are we on. Wokeness is not attributed a a political party
@tommiegreen Says:
It’s usually the democrats that call something woke. Surprised the republicans are acting woke
@pamelanadel3787 Says:
Just stop it. Why does the government need to cover every single expense of people. It’s called responsibility, budgeting for necessities instead of nails, hair, waxing and going out when you cannot afford those luxuries. Delaware just piloted a program where child support was going to be on a card and there were so many limitations on it, like no coverage for nails, hair, waxing and such. The audience went nuts! They lost their sh1t! The moans were deafening. Start living within your means. I’m sick of the whining.
@entropytango5348 Says:
Why are Republicans so pathetic?? Are they all self centred mental midgets?
@mravina1614 Says:
It's fine---let the girls walk around bleeding through their clothes. They'll reinstate free access to these products again. FGS these people give the idiot politicians in my 3rd world bankrupt country a run for their stolen money!
@MrNathanstenzel Says:
Republicans complain about everyone else being "woke". Can we start complain about them being "asleep"? They might actually be brain dead at this point. They have the level of mental activity of a coma patient and those are definitely asleep.
@perryweeks9577 Says:
Doesnt matter they blocked it. Their are allowed
@trouble4963 Says:
God I hate these republicans. Everyone needs to vote these A-holes out of office. Especially if you are. A woman. Black. Brown. Gay. Transgender. Jewish. MUSLUM. You are all targets of this party.
@pamhylton9911 Says:
Unbelievable. GOP have gone crazy. Use rags
@marklaughlin282 Says:
Really can't believe someone actually said that . Obviously it will cut into money they are stealing or using elsewhere that they benefit from
@questcore636 Says:
exactly why they have no say in women's health, they're idiots guided by ideology
@videoettaceo8900 Says:
I hate these mothers so much
@KindredSpirit1010 Says:
I know that it would be a lot to ask of young girls. But if I were still in school I would just be bleeding through my jeans, walking around, sitting on all the school chairs in protest.
@shsu7426 Says:
The way he said it was rather creepy..
@1313steamroller Says:
The right simply hates women. It was obvious to the whole world when the right put a rapist on the Supreme Court.
@MF-ty2zn1 Says:
Republican elected officials want to make all schools private, so everyone gets to pay sky high TUITION. They don't want public schools because they don't make money with anything public.
@davidbriel4278 Says:
Wtf??
@wideawake5630 Says:
Make boys provide their own toilet paper. Not really of course but its the same thing.
@DellikkilleD Says:
Thats clearly something parents should be providing, much like contraceptives.
@kasketbase8741 Says:
Caroline Harris, a Republican conservative, wants to make tampons tax exempt
@loveandjoy810 Says:
I bought my girls reusable pads and period underwear. They love them and they are softer than plastic lined pads. They bring them home in the special bag and I throw them in the wash. I use a menstrual cup that I bought last year. My overall cost for periods for 3 girls in a household went way down.
@blueknight07 Says:
Those women must be loaded, or exceptionally arrogant.
@kimbye1 Says:
I don't understand how women can vote against this. Hasn't these conservative bitches had periods themselves??
@ShadowFoxSF Says:
Old and busted GOP lady came from an era where Periods were embarrassing. A gross hygiene thing with yucky dirty blood, And you did everything in your power to pretend they didn't exist. I grew up where middle school girls would tease you if they knew you were on your period (and now some of them are also politician age). Helping wasn't much of a thought among students until high school. Maybe some of that still holds true, today, but we can do a better job acknowledging it's just regular biology same as we acknowledge that little humans have and lose baby teeth, as they get replaced by adult teeth, and not shame girls for having periods, being poor or both. But hey, I was never much for using tampons, I would get by a couple hours at a time with a big fat wad of TP in an emergency.
