I don' t remember anything but fragments from when I was a baby, the down side for society, the child and the family to have an unwanted child, or the child needing life long expensive medical treatment due to being premature I believe is worse than terminating a ball of cells that has potential for life.
For me this really is no different apart from the effect on the mother, than if people were to cry over a guy wasting his sperm.

The atrocious reason they won't protect these babies I would say is the medical experiments that the babies are used for. To give any pain relief would degrade the tissues used.
