US Constitution Amendmen 8: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel or unusual punishments inflicted.
The judge and attorney general in this case both took Oaths of Office swearing to uphold the NYS and US Constitutions. Violating those Oaths of Office are very serious crimes in NYS and the US.
Article 1 Section 6 of the NYS Constitution as it pertains to public servants required that the judge and attorney general must be investigated for violating their oaths.
NYS has Public Corruption and Accessory After the Fact laws that these two violated doing what they did.
The US Code has Violating Oaths of Office and Misprison that are Class A Misdemeanors to a Class B Felony.
These two public servants are in clear violation of their Oaths of Office. They both also violated Codes of Conduct for judges and attorneys which should result in immediate suspension, especially given the egregious way they have both conducted themselves.
There was no injured party in this case, therefore there cannot be a civi suit filed by anyone. In filing the suit and then hearing it, the attorney general and judge should both be removed from their positions. They have abused their positions for their personal advancement and benefit. This is a very serious crime. Crime that James espouses all the time she will work to stop.
They are also engaged in grand theft as well as extortion.

Any look into the actual evidence of the claims made by the AG demonstrate that this was a very clear case of fraud.
Under New York State law, the AG has the authority to take action against this fraud.

You overestimating the value of your house by $10,000 is in no way comparable to a $200,000,000 overevaluation.
Trump deliberately overestimated the value of his assets by an extraordinary margin in order to maintain a year over year increase in net value, regardless of their actual value.
In addition, the banks did in fact loose money, because Trump's fraudulent assessments of his assets gave him access to significantly lower interest. This money, which the banks otherwise would have made, is the largest part of the ruling. Misleading financial institutions for favorable interest rates is fraud. It is that simple. The sheer amount of the disgorgement is of the same magnitude as the scale of the fraud that was committed, and the loss in profit which the banks suffered as a result.
