@lurx2024 Says:
Jay Leno was never exactly an example of an edgy comedian, and whatever edginess he might have had he considerably watered down when he began hosting The Tonight Show, so his retreat from offending people's political sensibilities should come as a chock or headline news.
@warrenreid6109 Says:
John what in the hell is wrong with you where you're not getting what Jay is talking about. You're usually a reasonably smart guy. It's ok to make political jokes but the late night guys are making their monologs exclusive making a political statement. Get your head out of your ass.

4:21 is it just me or did ana fart lol 😂
@protosonic17 Says:
If its done well then i'm fine with it but if its just what's been happening lately where the villian in everything is just trump and has some form of make something great again shoved in your face to the point you want to puke then i don't want it
@Domzdream Says:
My coping mechanism from politics is getting into the (rich) subject of UFOs. Of course you have to approach this with a massive skeptical mind, but also to keep an open mind....but not so open that your brains fall out. But yea, fascinating stuff! And addictive.
@alshotrodgarage4779 Says:
Jay wants to be liked by everyone in his routine with no cursing or sex talk etc politics makes people see others as opponents
@writerconsidered Says:
Not a fan of his comedy but love Jay Leno's garage. From my experience he stays away from politics on there as well. He sometimes pokes fun of government regulation on cars a little. But he's pretty much Apolitical. To be honest I like it. I find the comment section to just as Apolitical as he is and no one gets into any kind of heated exchanges. People need the escape. If politics is a comedians thing then by all means you do you boo.
@GaryHighFruit Says:
Trump even ruined political comedy.
@EinarHagen Says:
Bill Hicks, Jon Stewart, and George Carlin do not approve. (On a side-note, Jay Leno was never funny)
@laurabriggs-od2jb Says:
Jon Stewart from day 1. Even loved Trevor Noah as the choice to replace.
@nomadproductions2812 Says:
leno is 100% correct
@jeremyofficer5038 Says:
I thought Leno was avoiding comedy during his routines?
@kristinschuchman5776 Says:
Overall, this was an interesting conversation, but I wish they'd brought up how brutal Leno was towards Monica Lewinsky back in the day. Now that the national conversation has shifted about the Lewinsky scandal, it seems worth some soul-searching from Leno (however unlikely this might be). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq7Eh6JTKIg

@christophermoore1898 Says:
This is why Bill Hicks hated Jay Leno.
@bikkiikun Says:
Jon made a great point on the gay/hetero Kiss example. Those who cry about Di$ney being political... It's THEM who make it political. And they are very selective about it: A hetero kiss being "normal", but a gay kiss being "social engineering". How about this: "You don't like, you don't buy." It's that simple. If consenting adults kiss, that has nothing to do with you. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
@bikkiikun Says:
It's called diversity, variety, Supply and Demand. And that's fine. There are those Comedians who can do political comedy. And there are those who can't. There are those Audiences who want political comedy. And there are those who don't. Jay Leno, for me at least, never really was a political comedian. And his audience is fine with that. So that's not really a loss. Stay away from what you can't do. On the other hand, George Carlin, has always been political... and his audience went to him bacause of that.

Different strokes for different fokes.
@peterlustig8778 Says:
Jon won'T have it easy in life he always says the most stupid stuff.
@pooddescrewch8718 Says:
You can hardly blame him . Once upon a time if a comedian could make a joke if someone you supported you would hold it against your guy . Now you hold it against anyone telling the truth .
@Jonathan-ic9ef Says:
Jim Gaffigan has actually been getting very political lately.
@williamolsen20 Says:
At least he is not becoming a right wing comedian that is not funny at all. I can understand his logic, plus he was never super political any way. I admit I love watching his show about cars.

Obama had Leno fired because he hated the jokes about him ,now JOBAMA is still running ? the country.
@2crow4birds Says:
Jay Lennon hasn't been interesting in 20 years. Lets move on without him. But . I'm glad he wasn't killed in his accident!
@AOK3x3 Says:
Leno can do what ever he wants, if he doesn't want to joke about politics that's fine. Lets face it Politics has become rather extreme over the last 20 years and is now bordering on insanity.
@henryhudson1297 Says:
I agree with Jay.
@tubingforever Says:
"Will they be able to have kids?" Who's going to tell him...
@jamesgianoulakis854 Says:
@TheYoungTurks Jon idorola maybe leno didn't have any subtext maybe him saying he wasn't gonna touch politics because it's not fun anymore, maybe that's all he meant....... And Jay isn't wrong, politics has infested everything because trump politicized everything and so did Disney.......
@waltersimmons946 Says:
Leno is smart. When Bill Clinton was in office Leno hosted the Tonight Show and got in hot water at the time for referring to Clinton (in his jokes) as BOZO. The LEFT has never had a sense of humor and been trying forever to stop FREE SPEECH. So there's nothing new about the coverage Leno or any comedian gets today. Get real !! 😮😮😮
@ricksamericana749 Says:
Leno has always been a gutless, selfish, shallow turd.
@shaneb1572 Says:
I did not know Jay Leno is still alive
@ajatathemu Says:
John is missing the part where his audience is mostly rich.
@8088I Says:
Good points!
@pzm2461 Says:
You guys are flirting with preventing free speech. If you don't like certain comedians, don't buy a ticket. Hypocritical much? I'm generally on your side, but I disagree with you on this. If Leno is ball-less and afraid of losing money (by losing audience on one side or the other), then the real reason is he's just greedy. Don't make him a hero. A hero he ain't.
@clutch1141 Says:
Im never disappointed in the turks and their general audience with their dependable consistency in deciding if other people's perspectives and views are correct.
@thomasf8100 Says:
John's take is spot on.
@AG-sc6pm Says:
I think he doesn't want to use the age jokes right now because they are the main ones used against Biden are age and he wants Biden to beat Rump. No other way to get around it but not do ir
@patsyshafchuk5368 Says:
He should. Because he was indirectly responsible for the collapse of the Fairness Doctrine when he invited a candidate for Governor of California. I think the late night shows are hilarious. But I will never watch Leno.
@jamesmcbeth4463 Says:
I guess Leno has not figured out that if he doesn't make fun of certain politicians now, he won't have the freedom to make fun of them in the future.
@Dan-ni7qv Says:
I hope that Jay Leno still tells all of his amazing Monica Lewinsky jokes. I assume thats 90 percent of his set for the last 30 years.
@NextNate03 Says:
Or, he is retired.
@ControversialChristian Says:
When you add politics to everything, it's like companies adding water to your favorite packaged meats. While it is necessary for basic processing it is also done to inlate the weight while attempting to make the product more palatable. In the end however, you get a lot less than you bargained for only to excrete most of it as waste.
@Julie1019 Says:
I went from disagreeing with John entirely to him completely shifting my opinion. He's so good at arguing his position.
@LawrenceFox-jx1fq Says:
Jay couldn't write political comedy better political dialogue actually happening real time.
@jennifernunya909 Says:
Some do, some don't. We know what and who we're watching and why we're watching. This is pointless.
