I want to be cyclical and blame someone, but sadly dogs just break away sometimes from their leashes and harnesses on dog walks. Mine did this once and thought it was play time so he sprinted down the sidewalk and came inches from being hit by a car. Ever since, even if I let him off leash on the street (which I only did once he became a senior) he never preferred it and “asked” for me to put him back on as he understood the leash is to guide and protect him from dangers that he couldn’t appreciate. We were one of the fortunate ones.

You can buy a GPS dog tracker, to trace a dog if it wanders off, as long as the tracer device on the dog's collar is emitting a signal... its position shows up on a smartphone map. Money well spent if your dog is untrained. But why not train the dog, not just cuddle it? A frantic pooch can cause injury to itself and others, especially running on a road.

About 3 years ago, my dog was 4 months old. I went to the dog park, and bigger dog (a boxer) attacked him. The bit ripped two of my dogs teeth. It cost me 700 dollars to do surgery. However, the assh0le owners did not care, and did not make himself responsible for the bill. I know who he is, and where to find him, but this happened 3 years ago already, so I don’t think I will ever recuperate that money, or make him pay consequences somehow. Dog bite laws protect humans, but other dogs not so much, plus in many counties, dogs get a free bite, meaning that there are no consequences unless this has happened before.

I was out for 5 nights in a row, until I was adviced to take some rest on the Sunday, take some sleeping pills, and rest.
She was safe in the carrier on Monday afternoon.
