"Over the last few months, TikTokers have gone viral sharing their "lazy girl jobs," or jobs that don't require much effort for equitable pay, as part of a new internet trend. But more TikTokers are now warning people not to post these videos and brag too much about their easy jobs if they want to keep them.
Gabrielle Judge, a 26-year-old and self-described "Anti Work Girlboss," coined the term "lazy girl job" in May. She has made several videos on the subject, explaining what the term means and what jobs these typically constitute. She's even launched a "Lazy Girl Job Bootcamp," charging $39 for a program that teaches people how to use ChatGPT to streamline the resume and cover letter writing process."

I always understood the "Lazy Girl Job" to be something like a corporate girly job, something relatively low-stress. As someone who used to work in Healthcare, which is life/death situations, that's stressful. When I pivoted to corporate - yeah, it was stressful, but we weren't saving lives - the stress was due to deadline urgencies and bosses who really didn't understand what was going on so felt they had to micromanage to get a better handle on things. I never thought "Lazy Girl Job" meant working 20ish hours at a fulltime role.

The BS about the job market is astounding. Do you think back in the 70’s and 80’s we all fell into jobs we loved, with great pay and great bosses? I’ve had 30+ jobs in my day. They all sucked until the one I spent the last 27 years at until I retired last year. And that was a government job that didn’t pay crap and sucked as well. As did the bosses. But I knew it would improve with time, so I sucked it up for 10 years until I was making good money and was a manager. Not great money, just decent. The first ten years of it I picked up side work wherever and whenever I could. That is probably a common tale for guys who are in their 60’s. But I guess we really spoiled our kids, idk.
What can they possibly be expecting? All to work from their couch for 6 figures and nobody-certainly not their bosses- are allowed to criticize them?
The entitlement is off the damned charts with these soft little cupcakes.

First, companies never cared about their employees. Second, most jobs over the long run are unfulling and a grind. Forth, most people who make a lot of money work 60 hrs a week and don't have work life balance. I work harder than I need to precisely so that my gen-z coworkers can be lazy -- because they'll never get ANY benefit for working hard. Not even a little bit. They'll be lucky to get a "hey, good work today" from anyone other than their peers. Whereas I had that "work hard and you'll get ahead" myth beaten into me from a young age, and now I can't hold back even though I wont get anything for working hard either.
Hard work is a complete waste of time, but at least I can make it MY time that's wasted rather than someone young and healthy who still has some potential.
