A Vital Industry Is FLEEING California, Florida Due To Climate Change

????

California homeowners are running out of options for home insurance as major companies are pulling out of the state due to climate-change fueled weather concerns. Ana Kasparian discusses on The Young Turks. https://shoptyt.com/collections/justice-is-coming Watch TYT LIVE on weekdays 6-8 pm ET. http://youtube.com/theyoungturks/live Read more HERE: https://www.levernews.com/insurers-exploit-climate-crisis-to-gut-consumer-protections/ "In the last two months, three of the country's largest home insurers have announced plans to limit new business in California, citing rising costs in a state where climate-fueled wildfires have become a fact of life. Homeowners already bracing for extreme weather this summer now face another threat: that their homes will become uninsurable, making it nearly impossible to rebuild or relocate should disaster strike. Yet as insurers demand higher rates and cancel policies amidst intensifying climate risks, they're actively contributing to those risks. The three groups planning to limit or cease new business in California Farmers Insurance Group, State Farm, and Allstate also hold nearly $40 billion in fossil fuel investments, according to a Lever review of the most recent data reported to state regulators." *** The largest online progressive news show in the world. I used to consider Florida a good place to live. Used to be a hurricane every seven to ten tears. Not anymore.
@paulbarnes2752 Says:
As development has progressed over the decades, hurricanes (and tornadoes) have more targets than in the past. 40 or 50 years ago what used to be woodland, pastures, or open fields is now neighborhoods and businesses.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the limitation on 700k to build a house?
@ormondbeachr1 Says:
This is the leftist argument I have seen in a long time. California insurance providers are leaving because California made a law that does not allow the provider to increase rates due to reinsurance. If California won’t budge, then the provider leaves. It’s really that simple. Florida is a market with lawsuit, Ian cost 114 billion in damage, and the market boom in Florida causing materials to sore, but let’s blame fossil fuels and corruption.
@n0rg Says:
If you have to have a house over $700K, you're in the wrong house.

The thing is state farm is still turning a profit. They just want to make a larger profit. 😅

13:50 BP INVENTED THE TERM "carbon footprint" DECADES BEFORE IT BECAME MAINSTREAM. please google it if you were unaware. they want you to ignore fossil fuel companies. they are the only reasons why we suffer. recycling is just another way for them to dodge responsibility.
@yossilevi4288 Says:
Maybe if we caught up to other nations and started building with steel and reinforced concrete we won’t have as much damage to homes. But instead we build flimsy homes using wood😂
@CinemaMack Says:
Climate change may not be real to deniers, but it's real to insurance companies. 😂

@AWildBard Says:
nuclear power doesn't add too much CO2, but it is too slow to build and too expensive the solution has been laid out for a decade solar, wind, & batteries can be installed quickly and can meet the needs within 10-30 years luckily, the price of renewables is cheaper than fossil fuels and we are actually going to see a revolution in energy production in the next decade about twenty years ago, because of fracking, the price of natural gas made it cheaper than coal, and in ten years around the world, coal was being replaced by natural gas. and, we'll see renewables replacing coal and natural gas in the next decade mainly because of cost
@stevenroshni1228 Says:
People shouldn't be building there

Capitalism working as _intended_ 💀☠💀
@taliasya2273 Says:
Living in FL, you had me agreeing until you mention nuclear energy. However, … We are retired and just one of many groups being priced out of the buying or renting markets in west central FL on the Gulf. Both our taxes and home owners insurance almost doubled in January, and we are only insured for the remained of our loan- about 1/4 of the house’s worth. On a neighborhood chat recently, many seniors are looking at having to move away from families, towns where they have lived all of their lives. Some are looking overseas, and some (like us) are floundering looking for somewhere livable within our budget., and away from FL’s insurance and tax mess. (We will most likely, have to leave the state) 15:57 . In the meantime, developers are buying every tiny bit of land they can find an putting up high rises. Being only slightly above sea level, our infrastructure having been ignored for too long, we have major problems with being able to handle the number of people here now, not counting on those thousands who move here weekly. And Citizens certainly can’t!

Should we really be surprised that the insurance industry is a racket? When it comes to natural disaster there always seems to be an excuse of why they can't cover you. You can pay for life insurance for 20 years and if you miss a payment or stop paying into it (most likely 'cause you can't afford it anymore), you get none of of that money back! It also doesn't make sense to pay into car insurance for the other car to get fixed if you just have liability. The person paying for the insurance should be covered. If you've payed for insurance long enough to pay for all the damages to your car or more, there's no reason why you should have to pay more! That is literally why you've been paying for insurance, for the "INSURANCE", right? If you get into an accident and the person that crashed into you doesn't have insurance, why do you get punished? You're insurance should cover everything and you should be able to continue paying the same price that you were paying before the accident! If you've been paying for car insurance for 5-20 years, you've payed enough to get your car fixed 10x over! You're better off keeping that money and paying out of pocket for the repairs. All insurance companies are a racket and only should be legal if they're not ripping you off!

Some people will simply just leave in times of crisis, while people are suffering.

I reckon all their profits from it should go towards funding things that take the greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and other things that undo the effects.
@lextacy2008 Says:
Blackrock is behind this and insurance companies are only dropping affordable homes. But once the foreclosures happen on the older homes due to dropped insurance, Black CROCK swoops in and buys these cheap homes, makes them RENTAL PROPERTIES and just like that, State Farm mysteriously is back offering insurance policies. WAKE THE HELL UP

Remember the Pandemic related lockdowns that had noticeable improvement in our environment in our major cities as a side effect? I would not be surprised to see lockdowns that are used specifically used to address climate change as Fox News once predicted would happen two or so years ago which was a stupid prediction at the time.

@lucydeantiguatarot8977 Says:
Though I hate oil companies --some would-say a needed evil, we the consumers do love our cars, and inspite of the craziness with climate catastrophes today, we continue to use our cars. As a non-car user for over 20 years, please excuse my lack of sympathy for all homeowners who bought their "American" dream and refused to just stop consuming so much. After all, the US is the #1 consumer in the world. And the thing is that everyone else, some 80 years ago --were not major car users, but everyone wants that luxury. As consumers we choose whether to buy gasoline for our cars or use public transportation as much as possible, or bike. As consumers, we choose to either buy a huge home where fifty people can dance in but in which only 4 people live in --thereby consuming energy to heat and cool that humongous home OR just be more simple in your lifestyle, but oh no, no one is talking about that, not even the Young Turks! So pardon me for not sympathizing with homeowners because the Feds will not pay nor the huge oil companies which everyone helped get them there by consuming their product to an extreme.

And god forbid that the state of California actually try managing their forests rather than just leave kindling and rot to "naturally" decompose.

Imagine if the govt just helped anyone whose house was involved in a catastrophe and there were no insurance companies to instead rip those people off.

The amazing part is, there are still idiots pushing for more deregulation. Out of any state Floridians are the last people that should be climate deniers but nope, here we are. They don't even seem phased. The definitely won't be holding their officials accountable for the damage they are causing.

Unless it rains much, that’s climate change again… Your friendly loving government now measures ground temperatures instead of air temperature to push the agenda and will set fires and claim it’s due to climate change, though it’s been hotter in the past and that never happened before
