I'm epileptic. I look just fine ("able-bodied," if you will) until I have a hardcore seizure. I was out for five hours after my last one. Who is going to figure out whether or not I am able to work enough to feed myself? When I go to job interviews, I tell them my medical issue at the end of the interview because I don't want to get the job and then say, "oh, by the way..." Their smiles change from legit to half-smiles really quickly. They always say, "Thanks for the great interview! We have a few more people to go through, but we will give you a call if we choose you." Never a call. This is like fast food places and crap. Not engineer jobs. Mind you, I worked at UPS for 16 years before the seizures got too bad, even with meds. F*ck These guys if they keep messing with the people who are struggling. I don't think they realize that the far right aren't the only ones who can show up at the capital in large numbers...

During the Irish famine, Great Britain would not give aid. They did have a food aid program for those who would work building roads, hard physical labor. Some died because the aid didn't give them enough to replace the calories they burned working.

There's a few reasons why there are more job openings than there are unemployed people. People don't want to invest their personal time and their money for gas to go out to a job that isn't going to pay their bills. There is a car wash place that had a sign hiring and posting that they were paying starting at $10 per hour, which by the way is 10 cents cheaper than the minimum wage in the state that this was in. Minimum wage will not pay enough to afford basic living expenses like rent and food, both of which have seen increases lately.
Sure, there are job openings, but a lot of them are illegally priced (below minimum wage) with laughably low wages that anyone with a family cannot make enough to support their family. Hell, even prior to the 13th and 14th amendments to the Constitution, slaves were given enough to have a house, clothing and food. McCarthy sounds like the slave owner who just made a handsome profit last quarter and decided to treat himself to a nice new whip to crack against the backs of his slaves whom he didn't feel were working hard enough. F**ck you McCarthy!

Of course, if you force people to find some kind of job they can do - like a scam doing work at home - the next sentence will be "if you can work 4 hours a week, you can't get social security anymore.
