Cool, so, both sets of my family came to the US during the 1930s to escape fascists in Europe. One from Italy, the other from Germany. Both sets came with no wealth or education, faced insane levels of discrimination. My last name isn’t even my family’s original last name. They were forced to change it during the immigration process.
Basically, my family never once benefited from slavery in the US. So why should I have to pay money for someone who in a likelihood, had their ancestors immigrate to the US after slavery was abolished?
