Ok… I’m with the Amish on this, but something is bugging me: so they didn’t (obviously) use this app. Crossing the border, do the Amish need a passport? I’m assuming so, otherwise the government wouldn’t know who to charge. At what point does the government tell them they are being fined? At the border? If so, it’s on the Amish to straighten things out right away. It feels like some information is missing here.
Whatever the case, we need to defend the Amish. Around here, the Amish buy every farm they can when they go on the market. Not that they need the land, they want it to remain farmland. If the Amish start losing farms then housing developments get in. Farms disappear so that city people can move into a new subdivision and enjoy the country air that they are destroying, while calling themselves “country-folk”. Sooner or later we have to stop buying up farmland for more houses.
