I know you have to be "politically correct" but these are not "immigrants" nor are they "newcomers". They came in illegally through our open borders. They are illegal and Canadians are being force to pay for them. True immigrants come in legally. I am not sure about now, but in past generations they had to apply, either prove they could support themselves or have a sponsor to be responsible for them while they sought work through their legal work permits etc. They were not a burden to all Canadians. They worked, paid taxes and integrated with Canadian culture while maintaining some aspects of their own. Now I am seeing them in the food bank. Can't speak English and having to use the resources of Canadians. It's shocking.

I’m soon gonna give up social media and news because it always makes me have extreme anxiety hearing about the immigration situation and asylum seekers coming in Canada while Canada experiences such a huge crisis with every aspect effecting our everyday living conditions. I’ve been years without a doctor, denied disability mainly due to not having access to a doctor to provide needed required medical assessments.
It’s ruined my mental health, unable to see a neurologist since started having seizures in November 2022, seizures becoming more frequent, deteriorating health conditions overall due to other medical issues and unable to return to any kind of work. It’s affected my family members, ruined my marriage of 27 years, and I’ve become a burden and financial stressor to the point I have just added a DNR to my medical file. Then I witness on a daily basis all the assistance these foreigners receiving without contributing a single thing to our country. I can’t take it anymore

I'm Canadian born with an education and a good resume and finding work has been extremely difficult as a newcomer to Alberta. There are very few jobs and no housing and it's getting worse every day. Alberta simply cannot absorb more asylum seekers if the libs don't intend fund our social services. There are refugees wandering around in a daze homeless here and its -40 two weel of the year. 300 died on the streets in 2023 alone.

You are mixing two concepts: immigration and the right of refuge. When you accept new immigrants you surely want someones who are " better integrated in the society" (in reality you mean white educated Christian Ukrainians) . However, talking about refuge the only thing you should consider is if they are facing percecution and their lives are in danger ! There is no difference if they are better integrated or totally alien. If Canada willingly made an obligation to accommodate refugies then it should take all whoever are eligible. The education, integration potential, faith, skin color ect make no difference. There is a hige misunderstanding of the concept bordering on racism
