One blessing of our modern medical system is our diagnosis and coding standards. A medically complicated pregnancy or a health-risk diagnosis is diagnosed, coded, and handles very differently than anelective abortion used as an optional birth control.
Please understand this and stop sweeping the outlier cases in with the majority as if they're the same. They aren't.

I'm an older woman, so I have memories going back before Roe v. Wade became the law of the land. What's interesting to me is that I personally know of two women who received good hospital treatment then, who very possibly would not get that same treatment now because of the chaos created by the Supreme Court two years ago. One young woman had an ectopic pregnancy, and the hospital doctors operated and saved her life. The other woman had already had two malformed fetuses that she carried to term and then watched them die shortly after birth -- so her husband insisted that she have an abortion when she got pregnant again, and she agreed reluctantly. She got an abortion in a hospital -- many years before Roe v. Wade. I know I'm just basing this on two cases I know of, but my point is that doctors (in some cases) had more freedom to make decisions in consultation with women, to provide them better healthcare than they would be able to today.

I find America backwards in this respect. The fact that the right of abortion is still widely debated is telling. Granted, some other parts of the West are or were slow to adopt laws allowing abortions, usually rooted in Christian beliefs as well. Keep Church and State separate, secularism should be the norm, if you'd ask me, in politics! Btw, pro life concerning abortions and pro guns without background checks is selective 'Pro Life' in my viewpoint, different issues perhaps, yet hypocritical at its core.
