As a person who used to love Toronto I can tell you that it only took 20 years to ruin the city. You can only pack so many rats into a cage before it becomes unsustainable. The belief that increasing density is great because it makes things so efficient and affordable is fallacious. Replacing human-scale low rise with unbelievably super high rise buildings and packing in more and more people and vehicles is the name of the game. I don't even recognize Yonge and Eglinton, it's become a high rise hell-scape in a very few short years and it's spreading fast. Ford is building the Ontario Line not to ease congestion, but to justify tripling Toronto's population. I hate to leave it, but the city I was born and raised in ain't here anymore, it left in about 2000, and what's here now is quickly becoming grotesque.
