1953-1999 the US had the USIA (United States Information Agency). They Funded Media (News) Foreign and Domestic to promote US Propaganda. In 1999 Bill Clinton Dissolved the Agency, and made is an NGO (Non Government Organization) funded by the US State Department. Now the Funding of US Propaganda can not be traced via FOIA. Also, PSYOP on the American Population is Illegal via Smith-Mundt Act (and its amendments), which governs the use of government-sponsored propaganda.
Posse Comitatus Act, which restricts military involvement in civilian affairs.
First Amendment protections, which prevent government manipulation of speech or press.
CIA's legal restrictions from conducting domestic operations under the National Security Act and Executive Order 12333.
DOD directives, which confine military psychological operations to foreign contexts
For me, I can tell if a News Networks, or a YouTube Channel, or a source of Information is in part funded by the US State Department NGO to push a narrative of Influence.
We could say we witnessed this during COVID. It was obvious to the masses, but Humans are "ants". Everyone was okay with the Government Censoring Information, and was even willing to fight for that censorship of information.
