Its not news to me that Hamas represent the so called "Palestinian" people, if there is such a people. As an Israeli I think that Jonathan Conricus does a good job analyzing the situation, HOWEVER, regarding why it took SO LONG for the army to take control I disagree with him. I, like many other Israelis, watched on LIVE TV since perhaps 7:00 am on 7/10 reporters that already read text messages they got, live, from residents of the communities near the Gaza border saying that the terrorists are in their communities, in their homes, begging for help. Some actually went on air and spoke on the phone. I, like every other Israeli knew in real time exactly what communities are being attacked, the exact neighborhoods and houses the terrorists are in. It is unfathomable that it took the army 10, 13 hours to get to these people. Most of the times too late. In my opinion there was a MAJOR failure in two places: 1. No one in the IDF and the intelligence community prepared for the worse - that THOUSANDS of terrorists will infiltrate Israel in dozens of places. That's a major failure because - WHY wasn't this possibility taken into account?? Always PREPARE FOR THE WORST. 2. There was a total chaos in organizing the forces and sending them south. It's not only the Gaza division that could have done that. The officers in Tel Aviv should have been much quicker and efficient in their orders and in organizing the dispatching of troops. That was their major failure.
