I remember back in the seventies and late 60s 6869 you can buy a car at one time for $2,000 in a 69 area and 70s are you can buy a good used truck a car in the 70s for two or three hundred dollars I'm talking about years modern transmission if you don't wreck it

I have a 1973 Renchero and a 1988 Lincoln Town Car. In Texas you need both a car and a pickup truck! Both are in great running condition.
@mahlonabowdon4437 Says:
My 2005 is low mileage and in excellent condition - I am a mechanic's daughter. I'm going to drive it for a LONG time!
I'm not excited about the idea of a new car with a lot of electronic tracking and spying devices built in!

Have a 2012 Ram 1500. V8 hemi. Love this truck but what will finally do it in will be body rust. Keeping it until body disintegrates.
Just bought in cash new 4Runner. Unfortunately no way to get one without technology bling.
Happy I still have Ram when they kill switch the new car.

Power windows. They always tear up because of cheap plastic components. I'd rather have roll up windows.

If you can’t buy it with cash, you can’t afford to drive it. This is the mindset young people should strive for.

CVT Transmissions, installed in 70% of cars. That transmission is why I'll be driving my 08 Durango until the wheels fall off.
@masturcheef105 Says:
When you have good credit but absolutely no taste, knowledge of cars, useful skills, or self confidence that's the cycle you find yourself in. Terrified to put miles on or scratch a plastic car you don't own and can't handle or fix.
@Sherudons Says:
Used car for 2-5k or a new one for 40-60k, this is easy maths, hell even I bought a death trap bike before my cruiser after I was settled..
You guys need funds to stop going over seas and fix your local economies very soon or you are going to have serious breakdowns.
@robertherbrand6050 Says:
I am driving the same truck I bought brand new in 2004... I have had my Dodge Ram for 20 years. I recently pulled a trailer on a 3 hour trip.. I trust my 20 year old more than I new truck... I have always had maintenance done when needed. I even take it in and have stuff done that is not broke. I took it in and had all rubber hoses from coolant hours and the front rubber lines to the calipers replaced even though it wasn't needed.. prevention is the key

I work 70 hrs a week. I make close to 200K a year my everyday car is a 2003 Honda. It runs good it gets me to work and I’m happy with it. I’m going to run it until it gives up. Because it’s the only way to make it worth the cost of a car anymore. And when it dies the next vehicle will be treated the same. Kept until it can’t be fixed anymore. And still it would be an investment loss 20 years from now.
@domjohnson8723 Says:

I got rid of my 2005 Pacifica like a dufus!! 🤡 It had minor body needs, probably under 2k and needed a little detailing to freshen up...not even much. Great engine! I got rid of it in 2021, it had been paid for for YEARS! I have a note now, only 380 per month, but nothing beats free, man. Luckily, it will be pd for next year, and I will drive it til it needs to be pushed to go.
BUT ---- WHO tf is doing something about this economy??? This is scary! We need to really need to STOP supporting big businesses...car manufacturers...no business to stadiums that bear their names etc etc.
This really socks that our government/powers that very are so evil that they are doing this.

@shadowbotz4293 Says:
It all comes down to people not being able to afford a new car. Cars have become insanely expensive and the unemployment rate is being hidden from the general public and the ones that do have jobs are afraid to jump into a 6-7 year loan that’s $800+ a month
@timothykeith1367 Says:
I'd like a Toyota Yaris. Toyota stopped importing Yaris due to poor sales and the last Yaris was a Mazda 2. A Yaris will last forever, then a seldom used 2nd car can be a used pickup.
@arasb3258 Says:
The only way I'd buy an EV is when the replacement cost of a battery is less than 2k, and you can do it yourself in increments, as needed, and as I can afford it. Even then, its a LOT of battery, weight and space-wise. For a prius, its 5k with labor, for a Tesla, its 5k to 28k (!!!) with labor!
@arasb3258 Says:
The interesting thing is, cars from 1999 were made tougher than todays plastic overloaded cars. Scotty Killmers 1994 Toyota Celica is still going! Longevity over flash any day!

All the pollution controls and safety features mandated by the US government add to the cost and these costs have to be paid. There are no plain jane cars available in the USA anymore. Consumers have demanded too much and now have to pay for all they requested.

If you know how to work on anything older than 1997 then you're set. I daily drive a 1997 F250 and my biggest expense is fuel but it just keeps going. Anyone buying these new cars or trucks for $85k and plus is handicapping themselves in this economy. New cars are meant to be replaced, old cars are meant to be rebuilt.

It’s all the corporate circle cycle strategy always has been I’ve seen this happen when I was building cars/ engines first comes highly developed dependable cars made with real steel and cast iron engines 😊 then here come aluminum and plastic parts sure their light weight but don’t hold up to heat stress over a short period of time 🤨 I remember on the news report decades ago that American car engineers were going to china and china will show them how to build cars more efficiently that was the downfall to the industry 😞 they flooded the market with mixed metals (known as pot metals) made cars with it (aswell tools 🛠️ ) all designed to limited life spans to yield maximum profit/ resale agendas so now the rule of thumb is the prettiest packaging just hide a pill of 💩 with a high price ! The dealership are waiting for you because they know you’ll be back while they’re laughing all the way to the bank 🏦 thinking you’re a dumba$$ no thanks I’ll die with a wrench 🔧 in my hand 💪 independence is strength strong 💪 strong 💪 strong 💪 Peace ABL

I have my 2015 Ford Expedition 4x4 with 145K miles. Paid for. Runs like new, could use some detailing, but otherwise reliable. No hurry to get rid of it.
I did upgrade the suspension and lifted it with 33" tires to make it look less like grocery getter and more like an actual truck so I'm happy for now.
