I don't know (just looked up the spellings used in France) if the word 'pyrénées ' is French or Spanish (ascend the mountains and decend the other side and you'll be in Spain ~ the entire border between the two countries is occupied by this range of mountains) and if I can't tell you who named them, I certainly can't tell you if the word 'pyrénées ' has any meaning ..? but wouldn't it be funny if somewhere along the Range there was a couple of peaks that reminded somebody, way back, of a Pair of Knees ..?!!
