On this subject, I heartily recommend a track I discovered by accident (it appeared in my 'recommended' feed) by a British band called UNIT. The track is A Tribute To The Israeli Defence Force and it is excellent - tuneful and forceful without being bombastic combined with a lovely lyric. I know next to nothing about the group but on investigation I see they've recorded a whole batch of Jewish related tracks such as Pesach, Yom Kippur, Bar Mitzvah, Israel Is Real, The 613 Mitzvot and probably others I don’t know about yet. Some of them feature Rabbi Moshe Bryski which is definitely a recommendation in itself.

I especially listened to your chat referring to a defiant child. My daughter and I estranged. In the last 1 1/2 years, I have spoken roughly 5 sentences to her. I am 63, and very ill (i.e., I had 2 emergency surgeries last year. Before the 2nd the surgeon told my parents that she didn't think I I was strong enough to make it back to the corporeal part of this life. My daughter acted as if I didn't exist. I had to have brain surgery in 2003 and she wasn't even in the hospital during the surgery. I know where I will be going when it is time for me to go. Yet, my relationship (or lack of) is a canker in my life. My friends, who are believers, say, "There is always hope". I believe that (but God is not my cosmic Santa, I cannot force His hand). He moves in His own time. But this hope that I feel is being foisted on me (with loving intent) keeps me feeling awful. If I could let go, and truly let God I could abandon this hope - for a relationship during this temporail existence, I would allow myself peace in what is left for me now. Any advice?

Many songs are written for the performer and not by them, it’s actually the standard in pop. Elton John did not write his lyrics, he merely sang them.
