Why would I listen to the opinions or "analysis" of people who are typically paid the same as the chick or bro who takes my order at the KFC drive-through?

@garychaiken808 Says:
The media is the worst source for information. They want floods earthquakes tornadoes monsoons riots rapes murders wars. They need that stuff to report on. If there were no disasters to report on than we wouldn’t need the media. And I didn’t mention politics.
@csickpuppy Says:
Does the media shape my views? No life experiences and factual data shape my views!
@whateversunpopular1338 Says:
What do you think you are Dennis? You operate on social media.
@tracypolselli1464 Says:
Yes, whatever the media says, I know the opposite is the truth. On a different note, even as a dumb teenager just starting to vote, no celebrity influenced the way I think. So the dopes waiting for Taylor Swift to endorse old sloppy are pathetic.

Exactly sir. Imagine there is a tribe which invaded some territory in the name of their God. They consider themselves as better than the others( chosen by God), They occupy that territory for over seven decades. Locals are terrorized, slaughtered from time to time and treated worse than animals. The victims living in ghetto for a few generations try to fight with the occupants. They start uprising like David with Goliath. The occupants( like nazis during WWII) but with the help of the powerfull media, they play the role of victims. Anyone who can see the truth and speaks about it is being canceled, silenced and even worse
@LarryBonson Says:
That question can be easily answered by looking how they use to love Trump until told not to.
@Riskmangler Says:
Absolutely the media shapes my views. I assume the opposite of what their message is. So far, so good.
@kennethgardner3090 Says:
The first place I get my news from is life. When I go to a store and I can't afford meet, and other food and Biden is on the news telling us he has inflation under control, that is a lie. If the press backs him they are also telling lies. I know about other things too. But I don't know about most things. So, I need to know more, and I get my news from any source that I've never caught lying.
@mbecker163 Says:
Yes, they shape some people's views. It's terrifying that they'll be using AI to monitor and develop content to do it even more effectively.
@rsaunders57 Says:
I had a very opposite experience. I had recently moved from Michigan to Texas. I got up one morning and it was snowing, not at all hard. So, I drove to work. I was listening to a book on tape, but there were not cars on the road. I switched over to the talk/traffic radio station, and there was a long list of school closings. Since I didn't have kids in school at the time, this wasn't part of my daily routine. OK, I thought, this is why the roads are empty, people are just waiting for their kids to go to school. I drove on to work, parked in the almost empty parking lot, and went to my office. About lunch time, I came out and walked to the cafeteria, which was dark. Walking back to the Men's Room, I was confronted by a security guard asking "What are you doing here?". I held up my badge and said "I work here, do you know why the cafeteria is closed?" He explained that the building was closed and everybody had a "snow day" off; I needed to leave the building immediately as the company couldn't be held liable for my safety.
It took three times longer that usual to get home, as the roads were littered with overturned cars and pickup trucks. Like a kid had spilled a box of Hot Wheels on the ground. Several roads were closed. Turning on the traffic, I found we had a Snow Emergency and everyone had been ordered off the roads due to all the accidents. I got home with absolutely no difficulty, other than navigating around the many closed intersections. Roads with snow are not dangerous, but roads with "snow and Texans" on them are apparently quite the hazard.

@email2hector Says:
I think Dennis is half right on his weather and media observation. Any normal person being cautious can get around during these normal weather changes of snow or rain. The thing is it does take one reckles person to go speeding faster than they should in those conditions to hydro plane or slide and wreck all the people around them as well. If I need to do something ill go do it, but if I can push it off to another day then I will.
@bonhoeffersdaughter8748 Says:
Shortly, the public will be unable to reason or think for themselves. They'll only be able to parrot the information they've been given on the previous night's news.

@muxseven Says:
Remind me who owns the media?
@Pascalierity Says:
Near the end of this fireside chat, Dennis remarks how encouraging a young man to "be a man" would be attacked. So it's almost never heard anymore. Imagine how much worse the warning "don't be a sissy" would be attacked. I wonder if he avoided that one since it's far more loaded, but it was commonly spoken one kid to another back when Dennis was under 10 years old.
@aaronlopez492 Says:
I'm a bit to old to believe all the alarmist "the sky is falling" media. I've always been an independent thinker. Having come from a communist country i have built in bias against the media.

No, the media confirms my views. For years I thought I was an outlier the way I despised and dissed the MSM. Then I found alternative media and found out I was not alone.

@9realitycheck9 Says:
Perhaps a bit, but I do believe that media absolutely reinforces views based on CONFIRMATION BIAS.
This is why some individuals only read the New York Times and watch MSNBC while other individuals may only watch Fox and read the New York Post.
I prefer individuals who will read all of those and watch all the different channels and get their information for a variety of different locations and then use critical thinking and curiosity to eventually come up with their own viewpoints.
