I worked at a hospital in Newark New Jersey in the 90s. Ot built walkways connecting the hospital to the parking garage and clinic building because employees used to get mugged walking across the street. Rarely did anyone go to the bodegas and delis for lunch or dinner, opting to eat at the cafeteria, brown bag it, or order delivery. Oh and the parking garage. Some muggers would wait at the gate and try to car jack you while you drove out. They targeted the cars where the driver took their time rolling up their windows and pulling into the street

ABL is right, speaking from my own experience of getting robbed there last year, Oakland is a terrible place! I have instructed my team members that have to travel there for work to not stay in Oakland but get a hotel outside of town. We also don’t eat there either, we just do our business and leave.

Yes, 3 doctors have been beat up there. They have also breaking into people's cars that are in that Kaiser parking lot, even though you have to pay to park. The neighborhood has gone downhill. I went there before and the neighborhood was actually nice about 11 years ago. It's to bad! 😅

One thing for sure Kaiser are big on safety of employees. They usually deliberate about this matter. I guess there is so much going on in Oakland that are very concerning that is why there is that recommendations of staying in during breaks.
