Anthony, Oakland has always been bad. That IN-N-OUT is walking distance from where the Raiders and Golden State Warriors used to play. Both teams left Oakland, most recently GSW who moved to SF. That move was the final nail in the coffin for that IN-N-OUT because all the extra security that patrolled around the Stadium stopped.

Why doesn't In N-Out partner with the other businesses in that shopping center and just use the security model used in Philadelphia? See videos from the owner of Kraco Gas Stations and Jim’s West Steaks & Hoagies. Their guards use Assault Rifles and they will shoot folks and have not had any more incidents. It's unfortunate our society is at this point; In the long term, it's better for the community to be safer and have thriving businesses and jobs versus adding to more urban plight. People do get used to change after a while.

I visited Oakland in May 2023, my dad and mom wanted to see it and we took the Amtrak. We stopped in a bar to have a drink, and ten minutes later, someone’s car was broken into outside the bar. Also, when we got off the train, this older black lady came up to me and asked to use my phone. So I hung out with her for ten minutes while she called someone and asked for a pickup, sounded like her daughter. The daughter kept calling me to make sure the old lady got into the Uber. That whole scenario took 30 min.

In my area they opened a Dollar General store, in what’s called a food dessert. It got robbed and shoplifted so much that it wasn’t safe for employees or customers. They closed it. The public outrage was against the corporation/store, not against the criminals.

Well at least I got to eat at the In-Out before they closed. Funny enough I accidentally turned into the Toyota lot next door after hours and a speaker system and lights started up. Telling me i need to leave the premise and im being recorded. The parking lost on the in-out has broke glass all over the ground. Having said all that i had no issues there.
