The first time this phenomenon struck me is in 2016. I was visiting family in the tiny Alaskan village of Delta Junction (population around 900), and there was a Thai restaurant in town! I was not expecting to have delicious Thai food in the middle of Alaska!

I mean, it's kind of refreshing. There are these authoritarian countries all over the world, with sinister plans to expand their influence by disinformation campaigns, aimed at destabilising our democracy, who are preparing a world, that is marked by their authoritarian model of dictatorship. And then there is Thailand, whose big plan to expand its influence is by making everybody love them, by spreading their amazing food. Every country should be a little bit more like Thailand and little bit less like certain other countries.

I legitimately think it's a fantastic idea, I love Thai cuisine and it's that love of it that made me travel there and experience the culture for myself. It's awesome and such a great way to celebrate a culture. 😁
