John & Ana got most preferences correct for Thanksgiving. To get moist turkey cook it in a cooking bag so the skin browns but doesn't dry. Canned cranberry sauce is the best. Candied yams/sweet potatoes need marshmallows on top. Stuffing needs gravy. Rolls are good. Green bean casserole is ok without onion rings. Pumpkin pie is good with whipped cream.

One of my friends is from an Italian family who have lived for generations in Louisiana. I went to her house and it was lasagna, dirty rice, eggplant, gumbo, some sort of almond cake, etc...totally delicious but i felt like the twilight zone for me😂 Most important though, there was a lot of fun and a lot of love reigning over the meal, and that's the most important element.

In our community it is turnip or collard greens, turkey ( ham is for X-mas or New Years), mac & real cheese (none of that Velveeta crap), sweet potato pie ( fafo if you even think about having pumpkin pie), homemade dressing ( again, fafo if you try to bring that boxed stuffing mess),dinner rolls, and corn bread.

My mother used 2 Tbs. of Mayonnaise and rubbed the entire exterior of the Turkey then she sprinkled Bell's Seasoning like powder over all the bird and tented the top of the bird with foil. Our bird comes out like crispy on the outside and moist on the inside every time. Cook it to directions given. One year I found a cornbread stuffing recipe from Guy's Drivin's, Diners, and Dives at the Alpine Steak House on HWY 41 just north of Sarasota Florida where they make the "Turduckin" a combo of Turkey, Duck, and Chicken. So I got the Cornbread stuffing recipe and tried it. It had the slow heat of cayenne, the saltiness, the sweet and the crunch you could never image inside my mouth with the gravy. OH MY GOD that was a game changer for me. I am from Connecticut and I still make this recipe. I actually had to cut the recipe in half twice for home. Lucky me I brought the restaurant pan of stuffing to a homeless get together at a park. Along with other things I made for that day. It was a great hit. But I am still making my Turkey Stuffing southern style and turkey traditional NE style.The combo is fantastic. I also make homemade Cranberry sauce with chopped up mandarin segments in it. The people love my food. I grew up in NE and on a farm in northern Maine and learned how to cook from age 10. I am now 67.5 years young.😊
