Quite frankly. Its the same with logic.
If people know how you rationalise things, they can feed things to you that sound perfectly reasonable but dont reflect reality and actually surpressing your emotions make you more susceptible to that because you lose that feeling that someone might be tricking you. Why would they want you to think in a certain fashion?
The best advice is still to understand how your emotions and rationalising brain works and applying those effectively. Not disregarding one or the other. Different situations call for different modes of thinking and they can work in tandem.
