i agree with netanyahu, and he is right, the SCOTUS can't overrule the executive or legislative branches based on claiming they are "unreasonable" i think one of my biggest pet peve is when some idiot passes a law where the standard is based on something being reasonable or not, that term is meaningless. at least SCOTUS have to(or at least should) base their decisions on the us constitution not just what they don't like. although that would have called for giving the courts a stricter standard, not simply abolishing their powers of review.

The claims TYT are making are completely unsubstantiated and false. There are still a number of checks and balances that the judiciary has over the executive. ONE of those was removed, and specifically, "unreasonableness". "Unreasonableness" basically meant that a panel of (non-elected) judges could decide, based on their own subjective discretion, that a particular government decision is simply "unreasonable". They do not need to prove that the decision had contradicted Israeli basic laws (the Israeli equivalent of the constitution) or anything of that nature. The judiciary can still overturn government decisions using other grounds, such as illegality, ultra vires (if a government body exceeds the scope of its authority), due process, discriminatory nature, and all of the basic laws still in force that protect human and citizen rights in the State of Israel. So, to summarize, for a panel of judges to overturn a government decision, they need to base that decision on existing Israeli laws and precedents, rather than their own personal judgments and beliefs... Sounds right to me...

Not having a constitution basically just means they have not been able to ratify the enture set of rules by all parties involved. Doesnt mean they dont have a set of rules. They do and usually judges are expected to abide by them. And guess what, when judges make a ruling on something, that becomes precedent and sort of a widely accepted and recognised rule. Which gives judges enormous power. Because if a group of judges rule one way, it becomes extremely difficult to reverse course later without constitutional protection.
