You know what is interesting... people who oppose the veneration of the Confederacy, and it's unambiguously enshrined in the states' Constitutions, race-based slavery economy are fully aware of this. Real, structural changes must happen. 'What-abouting' things with ongoing effects is complicity. And helping one group break the cycle does not prevent helping others. Because, surprise surprise, many issues of one group are not intrinsically unique to that one group.
Maybe we should start looking harder at the motivations of those who don't want you really examining the past to see the parallels to the present.
