The Supreme Court has come under fire and increased scrutiny after reporting on undisclosed gifts to Justice Clarence Thomas emerged, which was followed by further reporting on Justice Neil Gorsuch and Chief Justice John Roberts. In response, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin proposed a hearing on Supreme Court ethics."

Reminds me of something they said about Dianne Feinstein, that if the Democrats had tried to replace her before Fox News got involved that the Republicans would have been able to consent to her replacement, politically speaking. But once this became a political issue then the Republican voters would not stand for the Republicans to do this once they knew it would help the Democrats. So President Biden is trying to starve the story of oxygen from a partisan political vantage.

Speaking of which, the only reason that Thomas is on the SC is that Biden refused to allow the collaborating witnesses and the video store receipts proving Thomas lied to be present to the committee. I don't know why; maybe he was afraid of looking racist. At any rate, Biden bears personal responsibility for Thomas being on the SC, even though at this point he can do nothing about it.
