Second, consider this. How many things in America require a license?
Driving a car
Flying an airplane
Practicing medicine or law
Civil engineering
Etc.
You can't by certain drugs without a prescription.
Can't vote or contract until you're 18
Can't drink alcohol till you're 21.
Can't be president till you're 35.
Etc.
LOTS of things we do that are perfectly legal are regulated by law. It seems bizarre to me that you can't drive a car without a license, yet no license required to buy a gun.
Of course you by a car without a license you just can't operate it on public streets without one. You drive it around all day long on you're farm if you want, even if you're only 10 years old.
And kinda the same with guns. If you want to carry it on public streets you need a license.
Again, considering guns and cars, if your 13 year old steels the keys to your car and drives it without a license, and drives it through the side of a convenient store killing 10 people then the car became a deadly weapon. And the requirements for a license and age restriction were irrelevant.
Vehicles used improperly can be every bit as deadly as guns.
No law requires parents to lock their car keys in a safe.
Consider that if all guns were taken away and their sale was illegal, then if a maniac wanted to kill a dozen elementary school kids, they could drive their pickup at high speed into the playground at recess, or through the side of the building during class, or a crowded bus stop. Where there's a will there's a way.
As far as students obtaining a parents weapon, if a license was required then a provision for that license could be if the gun will be stored in a location with minors a gun safe is required by law. Still, some of these kids get into the safe??? How did the 6 year old get the trigger lock off mom's gun?

The teacher the 6 year old shot. If she was aware of that child had a weapon, she most definitely should have disarmed him!!! Now she obviously now has PTSD. That kid needs psychological help badly. It may not be the parents at all. Sometimes a person is born broken/has defective brain wiring.
