I pay about 3k for my property tax and imo its WELL worth it
I live in a suburbs of western new york. Where my streets r paved and the police LITERALLY show up within 30secs. When it snows the town i live in doesnt fck around and we have some of the cleanest streets ive ever seen. It never ceases to amaze me how clean this area is
Schools r solid to good. I honestly dont have much to complain about with my local government
Oh and i dont have kids and have no problem funding education when i pay my school tax which is about 2500

I pay 3k a yeah in property taxes and that is gonna go up as soon as the township gets its crap together and re assesses my property. My house doubled in value in the 10years I've owned it. I'm expecting to pay 5k after being re assessed. I'd rather them get rid of property tax in pa and add a sales tax. That way the tax burden is on everybody instead of home owners

Please stop promoting that teachers get three months off every year. Firstly, some teachers do summer school or summer programs. Secondly, there’s a lot of work that goes into setting up a classroom and preparing curriculum for the upcoming year, especially if you’ve moved schools or classrooms. Thirdly, most teachers are regularly required to take continuing education classes and latest teaching models and theories and all that fun stuff. The really don’t get to just sit back and party all summer long.

I am not feeling sorry for myself but about 10 years ago I got scammed by a guy who partially did my home A/C system. My family of 5 hasn't had central heat and air for 10 years. Without being personal I lost my job a one point qnd luckily was able to pay my taxes and use the money I was going to use for a new central heat and air for other living expences. Since then, either braces or other expenses have come in the way. Right now, I finally have enough, just barely. But guess what? Property taxes are due. With what I have paid in Property taxes in the past 10 years I could have had central heat and air for many years now. Multiple time over.

I live in Illinois and of course pay outrageous property tax and that is what it is. What really frost my cookies is how corrupt the property tax system is here. I pay 5% of my house value every year but politicians ( Barack Obama) and billion dollar corporations (Mike Madigans buddies) pay little to nothing but no one seems to care. I just don't get it. If the system was everyone paying their "fair share " it would be more tolerable.

Just drawing a parallel here, how do you think that the majority of the families in the United States who supposedly come from old money actually acquired that wealth?
Do you think that they got it by doing hard work?
This answer might apply to the world in general and not the country, but the majority of wealth that various families and Nations over the centuries that were wealthy gained their wealth through piracy, slavery, then the drug trade.
The east Indian trading company is a good example of that. Thats how they made their money prior to being taken over by the British government, but that same business model was brought here to the United States during the colonial period.
A lot of people who are either in government or some sort of position similar to that got their wealth basically through the same processes.
So as far as I'm concerned it's no different when it comes to what happens to property tax. It's the same concept if you think about it. Piracy of a different sort
