This was not a story about kids with phones. This was a story about an out of control a.i., the argument could be made that parents should police phone usage. But THIS story was about the a.i. convincing him to do it. In a way that full grown adults couldve believed was a real person. People in thencomments Watch penguin/moist criticals video on this.

Trust me- never give your children the option to buy something if they want it. Because one day it will happen. Just tell them you're the parent, and as long as they're alive, it will always be your right to know what they're doing.

There needs to be laws and regulations put in place for AI to NOT be able to discuss in certain conversations. This is the problem with AI. Here we talk about AI convincing a young man to commit suicide. The next will be a terrorist attack or school shooting. Murder. The next Ted Bundy. I wish all of these were just science fiction thoughts; but they’re not. Humans are not moral or spiritually connected enough to hold in their hands one of the most powerful weapons ever created. AI. AI is not for the good of humanity. We are beginning to truly see it’s ugly face,

Both are responsible. It takes a village. But the parent is ultimately tasked with protecting their child. Sadly this child turned to the internet to validate who he is. A sign of parental neglect.

A 14 year old needs constant support and guidance. No phone before 16. As a society we are all responsible for the death of this young man...may his death not be for not. Restrict cell phone use before 16 years of age.

I think that we haven’t even gotten a hold of the dangers from the actual creation of the Internet, and it is beyond baffling that we think we are in anyway prepared for AI on this planet. It will be the end.

My niece is seventeen and has a cell phone paid for by her father. My sister makes my niece.Leave her phone out in the kitchen charging overnight. So she is not allowed to just scroll scroll, scroll all night. My niece is a good kid and doesn't have anything really to hide. I think a lot of that has to do with my sister making her accountable and not giving my niece full reign while she has been growing up.

My son has autism, and as he gets older (he’s almost 4) I am going to look into those phones that can only call people you put into it, and have no internet access. Also, my 4 year old starts pre-k in January, and I’m buying either an apple airtag, or something like it, and I will sow a little bag for it with a button, and charge it everyday and put it back in his clothes or just somewhere it won’t be obvious. I’m scared for him because people are fucking crazy and if any parents have any other suggestions plz lmk 😅

I'm trying to convince my second son and his wife this important of this. Their four children are under the ages of 8. They are allowed unfettered access to the internet via their phones. They told me the kids wouldn't access any inappropriate sites. I took one of their phones, searched up a well-known p*ornaments site, and it IMMEDIATELY popped up. I showed them this. They told me I was worried about nothing and it was their children to raise as they saw fit. It. Is. MADDENING!!!!

I believe that some of the most hurting children (young to older teens) are the ones who’s parents give too much privacy to the child - they don’t enter the child’s room without the child’s permission, closed doors, knocking before entering, they don’t have access to their child’s electronic devices like phone, tablet, or computer; they don’t talk to the child, they ask a question and allow the child to shut them down and the parent listens without pressing the child. You allow all this privacy and when the child does something in private that you do not like you find someone or something else to blame. When did parents lose the control?

In 2007, while a 17-year-old senior at Stamford High School, Owens received three racist death threat voicemail messages, totaling two minutes, from a group of white male classmates which included the son of then-mayor and future Democratic governor Dannel Malloy.[17][18][19][20] Joshua Starr, the city's superintendent of schools, listened to the voicemail messages and said that they were "horrendous".[20] Owens's family sued the Stamford Board of Education in federal court, alleging that the city did not protect her rights, resulting in a $37,500 settlement in January 2008.[16][21]

I am so glad AI was not a thing when my son was this age. We did fight over his phone because he knew I was looking for pictures he shouldn't have and he was going to get into trouble. He had girls from school sending him undie pics and he didn't want me to see them. Of COURSE I would make him delete them but he would also lose the phone for a while. I could not even CONCEIVE what we would have dealt with if he had some bot influencing him. This was truly a lonely boy and this bot turned toxic and he was far too immersed in it. So very sad for this boy.

I took my son's phone away because he processes things different than other kids. His mind absorbs the things that he chooses to watch in a negative way. So I just took it completely away He's a better person without it. I didn't grow up with a phone and I turned out fine. Maybe we should go back to the old school ways. Buy books, listen to music, play instruments, bake, ho for a walk, do arts and crafts, and have movie day with the kids.
