Was Hunters' laptop "real" is the discussion that is totally blown out of proportion. First, it wasn't a laptop, it was the hard drive from a laptop! Second, it's provenance is dubious (as you noted). There's no way to confirm it was aquired legally. That means it is not legally admissible in a court of official proceeding. That being the case, it doesn't matter hugely what was on it!
