(Although I don’t think Helene reached that level) I can tell you with that situation, FEMA was there quickly and was helpful. Military presence came very shortly afterward. With this WNC situation, the feedback I heard was FEMA was slow to arrive and not working well with the volunteers already there. I don’t think there is a military presence , or it’s rather scarce and not felt. Many are reporting being denied the $750. Another oddity was that media was slow to report the entire situation. The situation was not handled well and it’s unclear if it’s much better currently. It was announced by Mayorkas I believe that FEMA might not have enough funds to get through hurricane season and it was strongly implied that they were lacking in funding. Then, a few days later, the WH released some sort of statement regarding sending money to Ukraine. And money for Lebanon too. We already know that much money is being spent on illegal immigrants for housing and food. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that this administration is very comfortable helping others from around the world, but it’s very debatable how willing they are to help Americans in true crisis.
