Notice how a little bit of exposure on these kinds of things can lead to a positive response. Good on this MP for doing what she did to rid this filth from her community👍 The radical left often rely on people not noticing or speaking up in order to slip their agendas through. Regardless of if it’s what the public want.

I wanted to write about this topic because it is important to see this perspective: I work in the Downtown Eastside area, specifically in one of the Primary Care clinics that also has a Safe Consumption Site attached to it. Here is how I see things after 4 years of working in the area: *TLDR: bring back psychiatric wards, hospitals and buildings/areas, so that we can house these people in them, have all the services needed and required in there, and force people who are addicted and homeless to go there. The homeless who are not doing drugs can then have the shelter space, can then have other things cleared up for them to use. Pooling homeless and drug addicted people who are also homeless, together, is a recipe for disaster* 1. We are not helping anyone get better. There is a multitude of reasons why, and yes, it involves also the fact that if we did help them get out the street, the entire organization would cease to exist, or at least get a major cut in funding because there is no need for it. I thought that was the entire purpose of this whole idea of getting people to stop their drug addiction? 2. What we have been doing for the last 20 years in BC is what I describe as the "Soft Love approach" to drug addiction and internal problems faced by the individuals living with addiction. 20 years, let that sink in. Have things improved or gotten worse? we all have eyeballs and we can clearly see that it has gone from bad to horrible. 3. We have incompetent, lazy, and corrupt beaurocrats in both the medical field and the political field. They simply have no idea how to fix the drug addiction issue because of their political affiliations or moral affiliations that the "Soft Love approach" is the right way to solve this. It is not working. 20 years on and not working. 4. What we basically do at the clinic or the safe consumption site, is palliative care. What do I mean by that? these people are not encouraged whatsoever to stop or reduce their drug intake. They are not enticed, they are not talked into finding ways to stop using drugs, they are simply allowed to live addicted to the drugs, either street drugs or lab grown drugs prescribed by the doctor, which then are sold for street drugs because the street drugs are way more potent. What ends up happening is we hear after a couple of months or years that this person or that person passed away due to an overdose. Every.Single.Month.Or.Year. 5. Providing housing: double-edged sword. People seem to not understand that giving housing to a big portion of the people addicted to drugs or homeless and addicted to drugs, is that their new apartment, subsidized or not, will be completely destroyed from the inside. How? drugs are a hell of a thing. I have been in multiple S.R.O. units/buildings where the entire room is destroyed, massive amounts of bugs, bed bugs, cockroaches, and cherry on top? rats the size of adult cats. 6. How do we start fixing these issues? I believe what we need is the "Hard Love approach", where we are going to have to reduce the rights and freedoms of certain people (drug addicts) by forcing them to go to what we used to have: psychiatric wards, buildings, hospitals. Where we put the people in there, they are housed and taken care of by teams of nurses, doctors, social workers, drug addiction counselors, cleaners, janitors, maintenance staff, and more, and they are enticed, by some way or another, active, passive, forcefully or softly, to quit drugs. They would also not be allowed to leave those places until they are drug free, have some type of skill or re-learned their skillset of what they used to work as, and move on with life, without being addicted to drugs. 7. I do not know what the right answer is, I am just giving my 2 cents.
