Food banks work with what they have so when you have food allergies and special diets, they don’t always work out well. The lineup for the food bank near me can get quite long. As it is, food, my phone bill, laundry, minimal on transit, and medications for my eyes basically cleans me out. For those of us on disability, this is an absolute nightmare. Then the ArriveCan app was required, and I wouldn't use it, so I was still blocked from visiting my own daughter and grandchildren. I finally went for the first time in four years this past July. That's when I learned that my daughter has been skipping meals so her children can eat. Even though she earns the same income as ever, her husband's moving business isn't getting enough customers, and combined with the drastic inflation and increased taxes, my daughter has to go hungry.
