So I did. This was in the 90s. You cannot imagine how far these papers have fallen in terms of quality and integrity. They used to be the gold-standard of journalism. Sad!>> <<@ellietobe says : During the 1980s the big three broadcasting corporations began buying up the news departments of local radio and television stations across the country. Those local stations became affiliates of those broadcasting corporations…meaning that the corporation would handle all of the news, however, the local station would still get an hour of time each day for its local news. You know, the six O’Clock and eleven O’Clock news. Some people were concerned about this but, of course, our elected officials said that there was nothing to see there. Also during the 80s as the globalization scam was bankrupting small businesses the local newspapers began to go under. The internet also helped with the money loss. Large corporate publishing corporations began buying up those local newspapers. Today even if small town USA had a newspaper (and many do not) it is owned by a huge publishing corporation many miles away. That corporation hires and fires its employees just as the corporate overlords of broadcasting corporations do. Today the USA no longer has the free press that it was once famous for. We have corporate overlords that interfere in every area of our lives!>> <<@AtarahDerek says : I get my news from the Babylon Bee.
