It has to do with nostalgia. When you make a live action, you expect the characters to look like the originals. That's the entire point of the live action. If I was watching Princess and the Frog with Tiana already in my head and they cast a red headed white woman I would not be happy about that because I'm expecting to see someone who resembles Tiana. If they were doing Moana with an east Asian woman, I would not be happy because Moana is Polynesian. That's my problem with race swapping these days. It's not a live action, it's a new interpretation. So, they should just come up with all new characters and create new stories in order to include more people from around the world.
