At the time of the lawsuit, McDonald's had over 700 complaints of people who had been seriously burned by their coffee and tea, and they refused to change the policy of serving it at flesh-melting temperatures. They knew it was dangerous and they kept doing it and people were suffering. This little old widow stood up to a multi billion-dollar Corporation and won. So they turned her into a national joke. And you just gobbled up the propaganda. They had already received 700 complaints of the coffee causing third degree burns and ignored them. The lawsuit and subsequent payout was the ONLY thing that got McDonald's to lower the temperature of their coffee to a safe level.
