If you believe the universe revolves around you, you're the center of life, then you become a person like Trump. Trump is a perfect example of a person that has no faith what so ever. Sadly 99% of Americans do not understand the 1st Amendment, there's no such thing as a separation of church and state. If that were the case, would it be wrong for a president to pray in hopes he/she is making the right decision like in sending our troops to go fight in a forgien war? Or giving an oath to a public office with a hand on the Bible. The 1st Amendment concerning religion as an example: congress cannot establish a law stating all citizens will follow the Catholic faith and/or deny you to follow the Catholic faith. Allowing time for some students to pray in school before school starts is not making the school a religious center. Our laws come from christian values: does a person have the right to steal from you? Does a person have the right to physically touch in a threatening way? Does a person have the right to verbally harass you? I can give thousand's of examples but all these are of human morals, believing in some sort of faith. You don't understand slavery? Forget the color of your skin, every race of humans were once slaves. Why? Let's look at the cotton fields, farm fields before there were any kind of machinery that can harvest the crop. To get the yields necessary to supply the country's need for cotton, it all had to be done by manual labor. A workforce so huge that there was no way it could be hired out by conventional ways. The only resource were slaves. Every developing country had to use slaves to harvest the crops until a certain type of machinery could be attained. So if the United States became a country 100 years later than it did, there wouldn't be a need for slaves because the industrial age would be just starting up. This country did not incorporate slaves for the fun of it, slavery was a necessity, without it the country would have collapsed. This country needs to recognize through the horrible life as a slave, these people made the US into the country it is today.
