The NATO countries in the east (Albania, Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) have as much dislike for the Russians as the SAHEL countries have for France for the same reasons. The Russian boot was on their necks from 1945 - the 1990s. The Europeans were slaughtering each other for thousands of years in wars until 80 years ago when 60+ million people died in WW2. They all have violent histories. The reason that the US gave limited strike authority is based on the use of Russian glide bombs and artillery that is stationed just across the border in Russia on Ukrainian civilian targets. The US allows Ukraine to attack those targets not targets deep inside of Russia like Moscow. The Europeans have no such restrictions. The restrictions are also imposed by the types of equipment sent. Think about it Russia is struggling with Ukraine a country with no Air Force, Navy and 49 million people, their friends in China are buying up all of their Siberian assets at a discount to take advantage of Russia's weak position, ISIS-K attacks and they are having their own ethnic tensions in places like Georgia and Eastern Russia.
