Let me explain..... 1st - the Supreme Court legalized corporate bribery and called money - "speech" in 2 life altering decisions in 1976 and 1978. Buckley v. Valeo :: 424 U.S. 1 (1976) First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti (1978) The Dems were in opposition to these decisions (as they should be), but embraced them in 1992 after being out-financed in both 1980 and 1984. They finally bought into the Neoliberalism (Reaganomics) to seek corporate campaign dollars in 1992. It frustrates the hell out of me. Clinton and Obama were terrible at pandering to the wealthy. Clinton even started an offshoot of the Democratic Party. His "New Democrat" Party co-opted the Reagan appeal to law and order, individualism, and welfare reform, and made the party more attractive to white middle-class (who left after 20% interest rates and hyper inflation from OPEC tripling the price on oil in the late 70's). Obama continued that move to the right, doing nothing about the blatant Wall Street mortgage fraud (pissed me off) that caused the Great Recession. He sided with the GOP and bailed them out without consequence. Horrendous! Neoliberalism has seen the co-opting of our government and courts by the wealthiest. The middle class has shrunk drastically. Tens of millions of jobs were shipped overseas. Deficits and debt has soared due to tax cuts for those who hoard them and store them in offshore tax-free accounts. Income distribution in the U.S. is now THE WORSE of all developed nations. THE WORSE......all due to neoliberal policies. Here's where i make my reference to turning a ship around. A return to Keynesian economics, that fueled the growth of the Middle Class from 1932 to 1968, requires legislative progress which takes time. Biden has done that with his policy choices. he insists on raising taxes on the wealthy (who pay less than half than middle class taxpayers pay) to fund infrastructure (he insists all jobs be Union and all materials be American made), to fund the CHIPS Act (fixing the broken supply-chain which is too dependent on foreign made goods), and the American Rescue Plan which is, by far, the most aggressive legislation attacking climate change. I see a the ship changing direction, and it's encouraging. The end of Neoliberalism is long overdue - and that's the fear of the billionaires. They don't want these changes. They will accept fascism before having their taxes raised to a "fair" level. GREED. It's all about a few dozen evil billionaires throwing their money at feckless politicians (the GOP) to do whatever it takes to stop the working class from taking back their government....including ending democracy.>> <<@jim2498 says : Why do you say that about Republicans?
