The other most common reason is they feel more comfortable and safe riding far left because they can see how close they are to the line. I think a better interview is why do people tailgate the right lane, and after someone exits, why do they speed up to tailgate the next car? Are you not aware that your speed is the same regardless of how far behind you are? Another good interview, Why don't you use your cruise control instead of driving at variable speeds?
